MDS / QE / QT
QE / QT - changes in a central bank's balance sheet
What it measures
QE generally means asset purchases to ease financial conditions. QT reduces the portfolio, for example through incomplete reinvestment of maturities. These are separate tools from the policy rate.
Why traders follow it
Review the size, pace, timing and market expectations. A balance-sheet change does not mechanically produce an equal cash flow into or out of the stock market.
Check the country, period and source. A single value or regime label does not determine a trade's direction.
