What it measures
Changes in consumer prices, month-on-month and year-on-year. CPI-trim excludes extreme price changes, while CPI-median measures the middle of the distribution. Neither is the US Core CPI.
Why traders follow it
Above forecast may raise expectations of higher Bank of Canada rates, below forecast of easier policy. CAD is in focus. Compare the actual, forecast and revision. This is a possible reaction, not a trading signal.
