What it measures
Changes in consumer prices, month-on-month and year-on-year. The euro area uses HICP, a harmonized index across monetary-union countries. This is not Germany's national CPI.
Why traders follow it
Above forecast may raise expectations of higher ECB rates, below forecast of easier policy. EUR is in focus. Compare the actual, forecast and revision. This describes a possible reaction, not a trading signal.
