What it measures
Changes in consumer prices, month-on-month and year-on-year. Do not confuse CPI with CPIH, which also includes owner-occupiers' housing costs.
Why traders follow it
Above forecast may raise expectations of higher Bank of England rates, below forecast of easier policy. GBP is in focus. Compare the actual, forecast and revision. This is a possible reaction, not a trading signal.
Check the country, period and source. A single value or regime label does not determine a trade's direction.
