Real yield - inflation-adjusted yield
What it measures
An inflation-adjusted yield. Market commentary often uses TIPS yields, based on inflation-protected US Treasury securities. This is not the same as subtracting the latest CPI reading from US10Y.
Why traders follow it
Higher real yields may increase the opportunity cost of holding non-interest-bearing gold. The relationship is not constant. Consider the dollar, safe-haven demand and quote timestamps.
Check the country, period and source. A single value or regime label does not determine a trade's direction.
